To achieve a full 3-dimensional clean, we recommend using Gard’nClean Liquid and Fast Release together. Our basic room reset is below, please consult the full directions for use on the product label prior to using Gard’nClean products.
We recommend performing this step when no people, plants, or animals are present.
Step #1: Cleaning
Cleaning is the necessary first step of any disinfection process. Cleaning removes organic matter, salts, and visible soils, all of which interfere with microbial inactivation. The physical action of scrubbing with detergents and surfactants and rinsing with water removes substantial numbers of microorganisms. If a surface is not cleaned first, the success of the disinfection process can be compromised. Gard’nClean Liquid can be added to the detergent or surfactant during the cleaning process for highly soiled surfaces.
Step #2: Disinfecting (Gard’nClean Liquid)
Water + Water Systems
Fill the system with Gard’nClean Liquid at 100 ppm and run the solution through irrigation lines until Gard’nClean Liquid appears at the outlet/emitters. Allow the solution to stand in the system for at least 2 hours. For heavily contaminated systems, allow the solution to stand in the system overnight. Drain tanks and lines and flush with clean water. This is the ideal time to start continuous injections of low-dose Gard’nClean liquid for biofilm, algae, and bacteria inhibition.
Surfaces + Equipment
Spray Gard’nClean GC Liquid at 100-200 ppm on all surfaces that can get wet, ensuring surfaces stay wet for at least 10 minutes. Using GC Liquid at 100 ppm or less does not require a respirator if using a non-powered sprayer.
Step #3 - Deodorizing (Gard’nClean Fast Release)
While the room is still wet, deploy Gard’nClean Fast Release according to the cubic volume of the space to be treated or listed in the provided protocol. The re-entry interval is 12 hours.
Step #4 – Room Re-entry and Clean up
* Turn on the lights and ventilate the room for one hour prior to entry. Empty the liquid in the Gard’Clean Fast Release cups in any drain and discard the sachet in any trash can. The liquid in the cup is a highly concentrated ClO2 solution (approximately 2,500 ppm) and can also be used the same way you use Gard’nClean Liquid. Use Gard’Clean Liquid Test strips to dilute as needed. If using multiple fast releases at the same time, you can empty the fast-release liquid into a sealed container with a spout and a funnel to reduce off-gassing. The cup may be saved and used again in conjunction with Gard’nClean Fast Release Bulk Replacement packs. ***Use the Portasens or other chlorine dioxide monitor to ensure chlorine dioxide levels are below 0.1 ppm before returning to work in the space. ***
Step #5 – Continuous Deodorization (Gard’nClean Extended Release)
Deploy Gard’nClean Extended Release and change every 30 days unless your protocol states otherwise. The clamshell may be saved and used again in conjunction with Gard’nClean Extended-Release Bulk Replacement packs.
Step #6 - Reload the Room with the plants of your choosing
*We recommend turning off any UV and oxidizer-generating devices when using Gard’nClean Gas Products.
